Disquiet As Lizzie Wanyoike School Scraps Off Saturday Rest for Learners

Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory and Senior School in Ruiru sub-county implements a new policy requiring students to attend school on Saturdays.

Letter addressed to parents, dated May 24, 2024, outlines the new schedule which mandates that day pupils be dropped off by 7:30 AM and picked up at 3:00 PM.

New Saturday schedule includes morning classes, mid-morning music festival training and afternoon lessons.

This has not been well-received by parents who now accuse the school of prioritizing profit over the well-being of its students.

“Hello Mr. Nyakundi.

Kindly highlight this burning issue with the Ministry of Education @EduMinKenya. A private school located in Ruiru Subcounty known as Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory has scrapped Saturday as a rest day for kids and made it a mandatory school day, all in the name of profit chasing.

The school management has also directed teachers to start lessons at 6:30 AM, contrary to directives from the Ministry of Education.

Please help us escalate this matter.”
