“Anaconda” climbed the charts to become Minaj’s highest-charting single in the US, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
Despite this, it was kept from the top spot due to the popularity of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.”
The song remained in the top ten for eight weeks and also achieved top ten positions in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
The music video for “Anaconda” was directed by Colin Tilley and premiered on August 19, 2014. It broke the 24-hour streaming record on Vevo, accumulating 19.6 million views on the first day of release.
