Kenyans who were contracted to provide security at the upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar are not a happy lot.
They’ve been shortchanged.
“Hi Nyakundi, hide my ID but please know that trouble is brewing in Qatar. Kenyan Guards employed for the FIFA World Cup via Alsaeea (Sss)are growing restless as their pay has been deducted by 1200Qar (Sh41,000). Let Fifa know this and let the whole world know what’s happening,” the source wrote.
In the shared screenshots, the issue is confirmed.
What was the initial pay, cnyakundi.com asked.
“Initial pay as the contract is 2000Qar (Sh67,000) and 1000qar (Sh33000) was to be paid after training in Kenya. They gave us an advance of 200qar (Sh6700) because of general supplies which was ok. So what was to be paid to us as of today is 2800qar
Underpayment
The world football governing body (FIFA) reportedly pays 10,000 Qar (Sh334,000) per guard, yet the company Alsareea (SSS) slashed the pay to a paltry 2000qar (Sh67,000)
“We came as Supervisors but when the final names were read out we found out that they had already bulldozed us out and given the positions to this huge Kenyans with zero brains and scant knowledge/education”, the source complained.
The security firm used a divide and rule tactics and it is fellow Kenyans who are being used to keep other down.
These are some of the faces shared.
“Those are part of the team making sure that things are hard for us as they just keep on threatening us. Ohh we’ll send you back home and that kinda crap”
