Prasanta Das Sarma, CEO Airtel Kenya
Dear Nyakundi,
Look into this Airtel Scam by the name FACT
Airtel Kenya is sending Kenyans a message through a premium service know as FACT even if no one has subscribed to it.
A pop-up message or a text message appears on the phone, ‘Your FACT service is about to be renewed. Please reply 1. Renew + auto-renew. 2. Renew Once 3. Reject”
No matter what you do, how you reply, you are going to lose money. I mean it will charge you.
The reject option is the sure way for most people who wonder when did they sign up for such a service. But they’ll still lose Sh10.
Multiply Sh10 with a million subscribers?
This is how corrupt Kenyan Telcos are.

Such scams
In 2017, cnyakundi.com lifted the lid on the CHEZA scam by Safaricom where many Safaricom clients got forcefully signed up to that premium subscription service which deducts money. Some subscription services deduct Sh30 each day.
Safaricom has to refund people their money after this. However, their hiding of ways to unsubscribe from premium service, by constantly changing the process shows that these are crooks.
Airtel is starting on a dangerous path; for a company that doesn’t have a fat wallet. This scam is now getting know.
“I asked them on Twitter when did I sign for this service and they didn’t respond. That was 4 days ago’, wrote a client of Airtel.

Sh10: Airtel FACT charge after you reject it. If you don’t, they keep on sending.
