Celebrity CEO Julius Kipngetich has been fired from the Standard Media Group Board, we can confirm.
This site has always questioned the integrity of the crooked Kipngetich who was fired from the Kenya Wildlife Service over incompetence. He also made his money through illegal poaching and poaching rose to record highs during his tenure.
Kipngetich had his last board meeting last week, we can confirm.
According to our highly placed sources at corporate Nairobi, The Moi family is keen on replacing him with an insider after realizing that he is very aligned to Deputy President William Ruto who lobbied for his CEO post at the Jubilee Insurance.
Kipngetich is accused of influencing the editorial policy to eye state house favours. He had been boasting of being close to Kenya’s defacto president Muhoho Kenyatta and wanted to appease him so that he can be appointed the head of civil service to replace the ailing Kinyua yet he has been a double agent.
The sacking now means the job of CEO Orlando Lyumo is at stake as he has failed to turn around the fortunes of the SG. Kipngetich had pushed the sacking of sex addict Sam Shollei and influenced the appointment of Orlando on grounds that he was the best to turn the company around.
Kipngetich, once he joined the board, served as the chair of the editorial board from where he pushed his agenda. He was instrumental in the hiring of Ochieng’ Rapuro as Editor in Chief instead of Tanui Kipkoech.
His last gaffe was to push Rapuro to fire political reporter Geoffrey Mosoku
Rapuro in a show-cause letter had accused Mosoku of failing to protect a board member (Kipngetich) when he wrote about an investigation by DCI on NHIF on a Sh970 million contract that had been awarded to a consortium led by Jubilee Insurance.
This is in spite the story meeting all editorial threshold.
Mary Yatich is likely to replace Kipngetich as she has been approached to take the job. It’s now clear if she has accepted it.
