Crocodile tears on Covid19 from an MP who stole Sh150 million PPE money

Swarup Mishra Kesses MP

Sometime in October, the fat Member of National Assembly for Kesses Constituency, Swarup Mishra, caught COVID-19.

He battled the illness, that he might have caught during one of those Tangatanga congregations for weeks.

He was at death’s door, but thanks to what he describes as state of the art medical care that he received at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, the first time legislator overcame COVID-19.

Most Kenyans cannot say the same as they in their poverty cannot first afford any medical care for such a disease that takes a minimum of Sh100,000.

Thanks to people like Swarup Mishra, a man of questionable citizenship who stole COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donations from Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Swarup Mishra through a firm known as Medilife Biological received Sh150 million in the KEMSA Emergency Procurement for Covid-19, for supply of unspecified items.

The payment is still under probe by the anti-corruption agencies, in the over Sh7 billion irregular procurement at the medical agency.

Mishra who is linked to Deputy President William Ruto won the Kesses seat in 2017 by what has been termed as ‘vifaranga vya kompyuta’, where a computer algorithm gave a constant of 54 per cent for winners in that elections across the board.

Looter doesn’t trust his own hospital

When Covid-19 came to these shores, Mishra who is a proprietor of Mediheal Group of Hospitals was one of the people at the forefront of getting tenders for medical supplies. With links to the DP’s office, an insatiable appetite for sleaze and a commoner in the world of crime, the legislator swarm in the murk at KEMSA like a fish in water.

It was easy for a man whose hospital has been accused of illegal organ harvesting and trafficking to steal Sh150 million from COVID-19 patients and medical personnel who needed it the most.

If Mishra was a common mwananchi he would have long died from COVID-19 when he caught it. But he was saved by the looted funds to check himself into Aga Khan Hospital. He didn’t even trust his own Mediheal Group of Hospitals. How many Kenyans can afford Aga Khan?

MP Mishra now parades himself as a champion against COVID-19, yet he and others are mentioned in the COVID19Millionaires scandal.

Sections of people allied to DP Ruto, especially his chief communications office Denis Ole Itumbi chest thump that those involved in the KEMSA scandal must be brought to book. Yes, they must. But such people take Kenyans for fools as people affiliated to the DP have been mentioned five times in the KEMSA scandal according to documents seen by cnyakundi.com

DP Ruto people including Swarup Mishra, a man of questionable nationality, stole Sh300 million.

In April, Swarup Mishra ‘the organ harverster Kiprop’ was involved in a heated altercation with the police after he was busted holding an illegal meeting in the wake of government directive banning all public meetings to control the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The MP threatened to transfer Kesses assistant sub-county police commander, Ceilia Kemboi who stopped his meeting, and threw insults at her.

The angry MP accused her of bringing Politics to the event adding that it was the time people needed security in the country.

Little did he know that 7 months later he would be infected with COVID-19.

Mishra when he got well, sponsored an article in a local daily saying that his ‘illness and recovery are a turning point’.

Over 1500 Kenyans are not so lucky.

Uncles, mothers, fathers, doctors have died from COVID-19 due to lack of some essentials that Swarup Mishra and co-looters made not possible through their thieving ways.

Dr Mishra, a wealthy man, said he learned a lot during his illness, including that riches don’t matter. “No one should be looked down upon because of their poor or humble background,” he said.

However, while stealing money meant for PPE, this mindset was not there. This is just crocodile tears and if he is serious about fighting COVID-19, he should return the money that he was paid for no work done.

The Sh150 million is still needed to buy PPEs for doctors, testing kit for potential patients and victims of coronavirus.

Swarup Mishra, your description of Kenya as a ‘great country that God loves very much’ and that ‘Kenyans need to live in peace and love one another”, doesn’t cut it. Return the looted COVID-19 money.
