If you are a fan of the Dead Space series, you probably know that the remake of the first game was released in January 2023, bringing back the sci-fi horror classic with improved graphics, gameplay, and sound.
But did you also know that the remake added a new feature that wasn’t in the original game?
That’s right, I’m talking about the Master Override Security Clearance Level, which allows you to access some hidden areas and loot that were previously inaccessible.
In this article, I will tell you how to get the Master Override, where to find all the Master Override doors and crates, and what rewards you can expect from them.
Where is the master override door Dead Space?
The Master Override doors are special doors that require a higher security clearance level than the normal ones.
They are marked with a red symbol on your map and have a red light on them.
You can’t open them with your regular RIG, but you can use a special device called the Master Override to bypass the security system and unlock them.
The Master Override doors are scattered throughout the USG Ishimura and contain some valuable items and secrets that you don’t want to miss.
How do you open all the doors in Dead Space?
To open all the doors in Dead Space, you need to have the Master Override device, which is obtained by completing a side mission called “You Are Not Authorized”.
This side mission can be started from the terminal in the Captain’s Nest on the Bridge during Chapter 4 “Obliteration Imminent”.
If you didn’t get it at that point, you can also start it by interacting with any Master Override locked item later in the game.
The side mission requires you to collect all seven CEC personnel RIGs that are located across the Ishimura.
These RIGs belong to some of the crew members who had higher security clearance than you and were killed by the Necromorphs.
You can track each RIG by selecting it from your mission log and using your Locator to guide you there.
Some of them are easy to find, while others require some exploration and backtracking.
Here are the locations of all seven RIGs
Hangar Overseer Voelkner’s RIG
Located in Chapter 2 “Intensive Care” within the Hangar, this RIG is found floating outside the ship near an oxygen recharge station.
First Officer White’s RIG
In Chapter 4 “Obliteration Imminent,” outside the ship within the ADS Cannon Trench, this RIG is positioned near the third set of cannons on the left side of the trench.
Chief Engineer Mahad’s RIG
You will discover this RIG in Chapter 5 “Lethal Devotion” within Engineering.
It’s tucked away in a locker in the Machine Shop next to a Bench.
Chief Medical Officer Kyne’s RIG
Uncover this RIG in Chapter 6 “Environmental Hazard” located in Hydroponics.
It’s stored in a locker within the East Grow Chamber next to a Store.
Chief Security Officer Mercer’s RIG
Locate this RIG in Chapter 7 “Into The Void” in the Mining section.
It’s concealed in a locker within the Equipment Workshop, positioned next to an SOS Beacon.
Captain Mathius’ RIG
Retrieve this RIG in Chapter 10 “End Of Days” on the Crew Deck.
It’s secured within a locker in his personal quarters, which requires an Exec Quarters Keycard to access.
Executive Director Tiedemann’s RIG
Acquire this RIG in Chapter 11 “Alternate Solutions” on the Flight Deck.
It’s contained within a locker in his office, accessible with an Exec Office Keycard.
Once you have all seven RIGs, return to the terminal in the Captain’s Nest and use it to receive the Master Override device and unlock all the Master Override doors.
How do you unlock the crew deck door in Dead Space remake?
One of the most mysterious Master Override doors is located on the Crew Deck near where you find Captain Mathius’ RIG.
This door leads to a secret area called The Morgue, which was not present in the original game.
To unlock this door, you need to have completed both “You Are Not Authorized” and “The Betrayal” side missions.
The latter is started by finding Nicole Brennan’s RIG on Aegis VII during Chapter 12 “Dead On Arrival”.
Once you have both missions completed, return to the Crew Deck and use your Master Override device on the door to enter The Morgue.
What is inside The Morgue?
The Morgue is a hidden area that contains some shocking revelations about what really happened on board the Ishimura and on Aegis VII.
It also contains some of the most powerful and rare items in the game, such as:
The Burnished Suit
This is a unique suit that has a golden color and gives you 25% damage protection, 25 inventory slots, and 25% discount at the Store.

This is a valuable item that can be sold at the Store for 30,000 credits.
The Audio Log
This is a recording that reveals the truth about Nicole’s fate and Isaac’s role in the Marker project. It also hints at the events of Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3.
What is the highest level suit in Dead Space?
The highest level suit in Dead Space is the Level 6 RIG, which is also known as the Military Suit.
This suit gives you 30% damage protection, 30 inventory slots, and no discount at the Store.
It costs 99,000 credits to purchase and requires a schematic that can be found in Chapter 12 “Dead On Arrival” on Aegis VII.
It’s in a locker in the Military Shuttle Bay next to a Save Station.
What are the other Master Override doors and crates?
Besides The Morgue door on the Crew Deck, there are seven other Master Override doors and crates that you can open with your Master Override device.
Some of them are:
