The Cook County Medical Examiner has determined Myrtle Brown’s death to be a homicide, yet no details regarding the circumstances leading to her demise or Sergio Brown’s whereabouts have been released by the authorities.
On Instagram, Sergio’s brother, Nick Brown, paid tribute to their late mother with a touching photo and a plea for help in finding Sergio.
In his caption, he expressed his love for his missing brother and urged him to return home: “My brother Sergio is still missing. If anyone knows where he is, I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
Sergio Brown, an NFL undrafted free agent in 2010, had a career spanning seven seasons with five different teams, including the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
His mother, Myrtle Brown, was known by neighbors as a delightful and sociable individual.
One neighbor, Kevin Grayer, shared with CNN affiliate WLS, “Just a lovely lady. Very soft-spoken, outgoing. Always on the go.
Just a happy person. Her personality was just wonderful. She didn’t deserve that. She was too good of a person to die like that.”

Neighbor Carlos Cortez told WBBM, “Her family came and knocked on the door and was looking for her because they put out a police report because she was missing for 72 hours.
So, we tried to help them as much as possible.” Cortez mentioned that he had last seen the Browns on Thursday and provided doorbell footage to the police.
The Maywood Police initiated a missing person report and began their efforts to locate both individuals, as stated in a police press release.
Myrtle Brown’s lifeless body was discovered near a creek behind her residence on Saturday.
The Cook County Medical Examiner determined her death to be a homicide, citing injuries consistent with an assault, although no specific details regarding her injuries have been disclosed.
Sergio Brown, however, was not found by the police following the discovery of his mother’s body.

Nick Brown, Sergio’s brother, made an appeal on Instagram, saying, “If you have any information on Sergio’s whereabouts, please send it to the Maywood Police Department.”
He also cautioned against entering the property, as it remains an active investigation site.
