The family of the late Beryl Ouma has accused Government pathologist Johansen Oduor of aiding in the cover up of her murder.
Following an affidavit filed at the Kiambu High Court, Beryl’s father Douglas Ouma Nyakach through his lawyer Evans Ondieki claimed that Oduor is the cousin to the murderer identified as Lyko Osuri.
The family alleges that after Beryl was murdered, Oduor advised Osuri’s parents to remove the body from the crime scene to a nearby hospital and persuaded the doctors to lie about Beryl’s death.
The receptionist at Neema Hospital, however, refused to admit Beryl’s body since she was already dead.
“The accused is very forceful, arrogant and us likely to violently interfere with the witnesses.,” said Beryl’s father.
The family is also against the accused’s bail application and insist that his release would heavily interfere with witnesses, most of whom were his relatives.
“There is legitimate anxiety about the impact the accused person might have on such witnesses if he is released pending trial,” Nyakach added.
Beryl died on the 21st of February this year after a domestic quarrel between her and her husband Mr. Lyko Osuri at their Kahawa Sukari home.
