Some of you have sent me screenshots from Twitter accounts purporting to be me. That is impersonation and Nyakundi is not on Twitter.
Twitter has focussed more on eliminating people giving their opinion but refused to act on impersonation, which is more serious than them interpreting a revealing photo as nude and suspending accounts.
This shows the inconsistency of Twitter policies. One hand purports to stand for free speech while the other stifles it.
One would imagine Twitter would suspend these impersonating accounts with the speed they suspend any account the agencies and government officials Twitter executives work with alert them to suspend account but NEVER!
Isn’t it interesting that Twitter managed to track down even my Onward Africa Company account, and suspended it for being ” Linked To A suspended Person” But cannot track down accounts impersonating me? Wow and Wow!
According to Twitter’s impersonation policy …
Impersonation policy
Impersonation is a violation of the Twitter Rules. Twitter accounts portraying another person in a confusing or deceptive manner may be permanently suspended under the Twitter impersonation policy.
An account will not be removed if:
The user shares your name but has no other commonalities, or
The profile clearly states it is not affiliated with or connected to any similarly-named individuals.
Accounts with similar usernames or that are similar in appearance (e.g. the same avatar image) are not automatically in violation of the impersonation policy. In order to be impersonation, the account must also portray another person in a misleading or deceptive manner.
”
The rate at which these parodies are amassing followers also shows that Twitter has blocked information flow, as many of them depended on the account that is being impersonated for updates. This is what we call CENSORSHIP.
Twitter should also ensure impersonating accounts of people they have suspended are banned as this will be fair to the persons.
