Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has confirmed that he will be soon jetting back into the country following an exclusive assurance from President William Ruto.
Announcing the news moments after Ruto’s swearing-in, Miguna joyfully confirmed that the new Head of State promised to ensure the lifting of all the red alerts imposed against him.
The former Senior Advisor to ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga will also have his passport renewed, after which he will announce the date of his return to Kenya.
“I’m happy to announce that PresidentWilliam Ruto has assured me that the RED ALERTS will be LIFTED on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Thereafter, I will have my Kenyan Passport renewed and I’ll announce the date of my RETURN TO MY MOTHERLAND. Bravo” he tweeted on Tuesday, 13th September.
He gave Mr. Kinyua as the chairperson of the assumption of the Office of the President Committee an ultimatum to facilitate his travel by giving him emergency travel documents and lifting red alerts issued to airlines.
Through his lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga, Miguna noted that government officials have in the past failed to comply with court orders to facilitate his return to Kenya.
He unsuccessfully tried to return to Kenya on March 26, 2018, forcing his lawyers to go to court.
The High Court directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November last year to give him emergency travel documents, to facilitate his return.
The lawyer went to Kenyan missions in Germany and Canada as directed by the court but he could not get the travel documents.
Miguna later moved to court saying he went to Berlin on November 22 and 23, last year but he was not issued the documents as directed by the court.
