A day after the local media reported that the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has ordered a ‘ruthless’ crackdown on drug dealers in Mombasa, the self-styled NRM General Miguna Miguna differed with the approach.
“We are commencing an unprecedented effort to deal with this issue of drug peddling. It is going to be a painful exercise, but we are prepared to start the journey,” Matiang’i said.
Miguna went on Twitter in the early morning post to call out the double-speech by government.
‘You cannot purport to “fight” drug trafficking when you dine with drug traffickers. Without charging, prosecuting, jailing and confiscating proceeds of drug peddling from Mwau, Joho, Kabogo, Wambui, Sonko, etc. all these are jokes.#despotsmustfall’, he Tweeted.
Several people were injured in gang related violence that rocked Mombasa last week.
At the time of the attack which was carried out by gang members from the Wakali Kwanza gang tool place, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who has been named by Miguna in his post, was in the USA enjoying good times with Socialite Paris Hilton.
