Abdiwahab Sheikh Abdisamad was abducted in the Central Business District of Nairobi. His family has sought answers as they have combed through police stations and mortuaries but he has not been found.
On Tuesday, Wajir Senator Abdullahi Ali, sought answers from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the rise in cases of abductions and disappearance of members of public.
The Senator raised four pertinent issues the committee should address.
- Investigate reports that security personnel are involved in abductions and disappearance of innocent citizens,
- Explain the circumstances that led to the disappearance of Mr, Addiwahab Sheikh Abdisamed (ID No, 8490184) from Wajir County, who was abducted by four men along Tubman Rond in the Central Business District (CBD) in Nairobi, and forced into a white double cabin vehicle registration number KCW 341N on Wednesday, 8″ September, 2021,
- Outline the measures the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has put in place, if any, to establish the whereabouts of Mr Abdisamed and any other missing person and to bring to book the persons involved in such heinous acts, and
- State the steps the Ministry will take to dispel fears caused by allegations that security personnel are involved in incidents of abductions and on extra judicial killings of innocent citizens, instead of following due process of arresting individuals suspected of unlawful activities and charging them in court.
