The Era of social media has given Kenyans a platform to point out various mistakes in society . Truly, Social media is making a positive impact in society .When a journalist misbehaves, Social media will always expose and criticize . When the media gives Kenyans fake news, Twitter always responds . It is a force to reckon with- Many social media strategists can attest.
When news that president Kenyatta had spent billions on foreign tours reached Kenyans, They responded with a Hashtag #UhuruInKenya. This hashtag made statehouse respond by spending many days to justify that Uhuru’s frequent tours were adding value to Ordinary Kenyans
Though this never convinced Kenyans, It showed that there is power in social media
Social media made made CNN Apologize when they tried to tarnish the image of our country . Everyone fears social media, It is a revolution…All and sundry must know how to handle this new platform that is dynamically changing our society .
Back to what I wanted to delve into. After suspending their editor Dennis Galava- For doing a piece criticizing President Kenyatta- Nation Media group has come under sharp criticism from Kenyans on Twitter- Many want the hardworking and opinionated journalist reinstated .
To get Kenyans Views , I started promoting the Hashtag Dubbed #ReinstateGalava and the Comments I have seen there show that Kenyans are tired with all this Bullshit . What happened to the free, fair and independent media we knew ? Without wasting my time, Here are Views from various Kenyans on Twitter who have condemned the suspension of this patriotic Kenyan.
Subject under which the Editor was suspended should let you know that Media Houses are already taking Sides before 2017. #ReinstateGalava
