Kenyatta family linked bank NCBA Group has been accused of allegedly stealing Sh300,000 from an account held at the bank belonging to a lady named Tabitha.
“7 weeks ago, over Ksh. 300,000 was stolen from my @NCBABankKenyaaccount. I’ve been chasing this up to no avail. Please help me retweet this to get their attention. More info on my IGTV. Will be sharing more on IG stories too”, Tabitha whose Twitter name is @CravingYellow) wrote.
The bank responded by asking her to that ‘The issue brought to our attention has been resolved and we have reached out’.
But not before Gospel artiste Kambua also shared her experience with the bank.
“This happened to me a few years back with CBA. But it was handled very efficiently. I feel like the merger brought laxity on many issues. I hope you get assistance asap”, Kambua wrote.
Kenyan bank lose billions of money to hackers each year. The figure has been increasing and to the loss to the Kenyan economy stands at around Sh30 billion annually.
The hackings have attracted the world’s attention.
In 2019, Interpol’s Cybercrime Directorate and Kenya’s DCI hosted the 6th Africa Working Group on cybercrime in Nairobi. The meeting brought together cybercrime experts to discuss regional cybercrime trends, operation priority and capacity building “and address unique challenges in the region.”
Some of these heists are carried out with the help of bank workers, as in the case of Equity Bank.
