R. Bon exuded confidence and a radiant smile, foreseeing her victory before the official announcement.

In a July 2022 interview with The Houston Chronicle, R’Bonney expressed her excitement and determination to be a trailblazer for Filipinas in pageantry and for Filipinos and Asian-Americans in various fields.

Her representation is crucial for young girls who lacked role models in pageants due to their backgrounds.

Notably, R’bonney win isn’t the first for Asian or Asian-American women.

Before her, Macel Wilson became the first Asian-American Miss USA in 1962, and Akiko Kojima won Miss Universe in 1959.

R’bonney family played a vital role in her success.

Her parents, R. Bon and Dana, provided her with the foundation for her achievements.

R’Bonney recognizes her parents’ sacrifices: Her father moved to the US with $20 and a college scholarship, seeking a new life.

He met her mother, a Texan from Beaumont, and she takes pride in being both a Filipino and Texan.

Her father, originally from Manila, Philippines, immigrated to Washington state at the age of 25.
