As the suicide of Police Sargeant Kipyegon Kenei attached to the Deputy President William Ruto’s office turns to murder, a man has published a short thread on Twitter complaining about Safaricom’s involvement in the murder.
The Twitter User Peter Amunga (@TeachersInKenya) also shared his own ordeal at the hands of people who tracked and ‘injured him’ because they traced his whereabouts by colluding with a Safaricom staff.
“Those who killed Kenei Kipyegon must have liased with Safaricon employees to wipe out his phone data to obstruct justice. (I am a victim, where safaricon worked with bad people to trace and injure me. To me @SafaricomPLC is among the KILLERS OF KENEI. @DCI_Kenya @dailynation”, Peter Amunga wrote.
He continued, “My concern is on our securty guards at Villa Franca and @SafaricomPLC. I as the chairman of where Kenei was resident, will recommend the sacking of the guards for not seeng or hearing any evil. But for Safaricom.. Shame on you for colluding with thugs to murder @Kenyans. @K24Tv”.
During the reign of Incompetent Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mr. Ndegwa Muhoro, perceived enemies of the state also fingered Safaricom for sharing data about their whereabouts which led to abductions by criminal police. Some disappeared.
With no data protection laws in place, the Telco was like a giant special branch during Moi times, they shared/continue to share, as exemplified by Kenei’s case, data about people the state or criminal elements within the state wants to get rid of.
How does Safaricom plead to these charges?
I doubt even with data protection laws that Safaricom will leave its criminal past.
Safaricom cannot deny these allegations because they are true. See what other people said about the issue of being illegally tracked.
A Safaricom staff told me on Sunday how he tracked the phone number of his friend (without a warrant) who escaped with his money. pic.twitter.com/aQdsF7L9ki

@Safaricom_Care be professional. One of ur employees (my boyfriend)has access to the people I talk & text and is tracking me.. Safaricom keep my information PRIVATE.. You can’t just allow your employees to have access to my private information. I just can’t be tracked. SHAMEFUL

Someone who had a grudge once tracked my phone, sent me the exact GPS coordinates of where I live and when I called Safaricom they said they are sorry.
Like that sorry helped or should help— Bio-Logical (@bio_logical_) July 17, 2018
