A University of Nairobi student has committed suicide.
The male student attached to Hall 7, Chiromo Hostels of the university appears to have jumped from the hostel.
The reason is not yet known as there was no suicide note left behind.
Students are complaining in the manner in which the unnamed student’s death was handled.
“Aliruka kutoka kwa hostel….. Reason not yet known akakufa. And the foolish student leaders are quiet”, one of the students wrote on WhatsApp.
The comrades are now planning a protest over the issue.
“The Admin has shown to be VERY Reluctant and Careless in Handling this Issue……We the Chiromites have decided to take this War to their Doorstep on Monday, 10 am hapo Freedom Corner…… Fellow Comrades,…Dear Main Campus…. Kindly Let’s Stand Together in Solidarity…..So as we Ensure that JUSTICE Prevails……This is a Very Serious Issue which Can’t just be handled Carelessly the Way hii Admin inafanya……UNSA nao wamekaa tu ni kama hakuna kitu imefanyika.Who Bewitched us? Who Bewitched the Spirit of Comradeship???♂️?♂️?♂️”, one of them wrote.
With biting hardships occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, cases of suicide have been on the rise.

In Kenya, WHO data estimates that 1408 people commit suicide yearly, or simply put, four deaths daily.
