Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, also known simply as Selena, was an American singer, songwriter, and fashion designer. She was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, and began singing at a young age with her family’s band, Selena y Los Dinos.
Selena became one of the most successful Latin music artists of all time, and she is often referred to as the “Queen of Tejano Music.” She won numerous awards throughout her career, including a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album in 1994.
