Photos of a vehicle believed to belong to Roselinda Soipan Tuiya, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Sanitation Environment, making an illegal turn on a busy Nairobi highway, have sparked fiery reactions on social media.
The grey SUV (Reg No. KDG 452C) that was seen flying the Kenyan flag, not only appeared to disrespect other traffic users but also the country’s national symbol.
The driver of the vehicle was reportedly Soipan Tuiya unnamed chauffeur, who was rushing her to an event.
Netizens have expressed their outrage at the incident, calling for accountability from the cabinet secretary’s office.
Some have pointed out that if government officials can’t abide by traffic laws, it is hard to expect everyday citizens to do so.
“The Kenyan flag is a symbol of pride and respect. It should not be used to cover up illegal activities,” wrote one furious Twitter user.
“How can we expect the government to enforce traffic laws when they themselves break them? This is unacceptable!” another user added.

As a first-time minister, Soipan Tuiya needs to lead by example and show respect for the laws that govern us all.
The incident has left a bad taste in the mouths of many Kenyans who expect better from their leaders.
It remains to be seen whether any action will be taken against Ms Soipan Tuya or her driver.
