In a recent development, the Kiambu County Assembly has approved the nomination of five county executive members, who were previously rejected during the vetting process. The approval took place during a low-key session held on Friday afternoon.
Last year, Governor Kimani Wamatangi faced a setback when the assembly only approved five of his nominees.
According to the members of the county assembly (MCAs), the five nominees were rejected due to their lack of knowledge on administrative, technical, and topical issues related to their respective portfolios.
The approved nominees include Nancy Kirumba for the position of Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning; Margaret Waithira for Administration and Public Services; Salome Wainaina for Housing, Physical Planning, Municipal Administration, and Urban Development; Wilfred Mwenda for Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Development, and Dr. Elias Maina for Health Services.
In a statement seen by cnyakundi.com Kiambu Speaker Charles Thiong’o confirmed the approval of the county executive committee members and the special meeting that was held. He further stated that the county executives will now await to be sworn in by the Governor on a date that will be communicated in due course.
