Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were an American rock band formed in 1976 in Los Angeles, California. The band consisted of Tom Petty (lead vocals, guitar), Mike Campbell (lead guitar), Benmont Tench (keyboards), Ron Blair (bass), and Stan Lynch (drums).
The Heartbreakers became known for their unique blend of rock, folk, and country music, as well as their tight musicianship and catchy songwriting. They released their self-titled debut album in 1976, which included the hit single “Breakdown.” This was followed by a number of successful albums, including “Damn the Torpedoes,” “Hard Promises,” and “Full Moon Fever.”
