Today (June 18), an armed robbery took place once again at the Jewellery Club located in the East Rand Mall, resulting in the subsequent arrest of three suspects.
As recounted by Michael Ribi, the operations manager at Jewellery Club, the incident unfolded when one suspect took advantage of the shop’s small gate being opened for a customer at approximately 11:51 AM.
This individual proceeded to hold the customer at gunpoint, while six other armed robbers quickly scaled both gates positioned in front of the store.

With the staff members held hostage, the robbers placed jewelry onto a duvet before making their escape.
Ribi expressed the traumatic nature of the event for the employees. At present, the exact value of the stolen jewelry remains unknown, as a stock count is yet to be conducted.
In an attempt to clear the area, the robbers resorted to firing shots indiscriminately, fortunately without causing any injuries to bystanders.
It is estimated that a total of 15 suspects were involved in the crime. Subsequently, a pursuit ensued, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals at the Marlboro off-ramp.
