Margaret Nyakang’o, the Controller of Budget, has been released on a Ksh.2 million bond, with an alternative of a Ksh.500,000 cash bail.
This decision came after she pleaded not guilty to four charges in a Mombasa court on Tuesday, November 5.
She is among 11 individuals accused of various offenses, including conspiracy to defraud, operating an unlicensed Sacco, forgery, and issuing false documents.
These charges have arisen from an investigation initiated by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which was subsequently transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Following an in-depth review of new evidence presented in the inquiry file, Nyakang’o and the other ten individuals were deemed responsible.
