Ali MacGraw was born  on April 1, 1939 (Age 84 years), in Pound Ridge, New York, USA to Frances and Richard MacGraw, both commercial artists.

She had a brother, Dick, who was also an artist.

Ali’s mother, of Jewish descent from Hungary, didn’t disclose her ancestry to Ali’s father, who MacGraw considered bigoted.

Her parents married when her mother was 35.

Her father, an orphan, ran away to sea at 16 and studied art in Munich.

MacGraw described her father as “violent.”

She attended Rosemary Hall in Greenwich, Connecticut, and later, Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Starting in 1960, MacGraw dedicated six years to her role as a photographic assistant to the renowned fashion expert Diana Vreeland at Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

Their marriage ended in divorce a year and a half later, and Hoen passed away on September 13, 2016.

Following her first divorce, MacGraw had several relationships and underwent an abortion, which was illegal at the time.

In 1979, MacGraw’s mother, who was 38 when she had Ali, revealed that she had her own abortion in the early 1920s.

On October 24, 1969, MacGraw married film producer Robert Evans.

They have a son, Josh Evans, who is an actor, director, producer, and screenwriter.

They separated in 1972 after MacGraw became publicly involved with Steve McQueen during the filming of “The Getaway.”

She married McQueen on July 12, 1973, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and divorced him in August 1978.

Following her divorce from McQueen, she had relationships with several individuals, including Warren Beatty, Rick Danko, Bill Hudson, Ronald Meyer, Rod Stryker, Fran Tarkenton, Peter Weller, Henry Wolf, and Mickey Raphael.

In her autobiography, “Moving Pictures,” MacGraw revealed her struggles with alcohol and sex addiction.

She received treatment for alcoholism at the Betty Ford Center.
