About
Berea College follows a two-term academic calendar with each term lasting for fifteen weeks. These terms are referred to as Fall and Spring, and the college operates on a term system instead of semesters.
Rather than awarding credit in semester hours, Berea College uses course units as the basis for credit allocation. One course credit at Berea is equivalent to four semester hours or six quarter hours.
In a regular term, students typically enrol in four-course credits. Additionally, there are two summer terms available for study – the May term (four weeks) and the Summer term (seven weeks). Students can take between one (1) and three and one quarter (3.25) credits during these terms.
The last day of regular classes marks the completion of a Fall or Spring term, while for summer terms, it is one day before the last day of classes. If a student withdraws after the last day to withdraw without final grades being recorded as per the Academic Calendar, they will be considered enrolled for the entire term. In such cases, final grades will be entered for the withdrawn students.
