Why is TD Jakes trending?
On December 21, 2023, TD Jakes, America’s prominent pastor, gained internet attention when a TikTok user, MYEi$HiA, made shocking claims about him.
The TikTok video alleged that R&B singer Cassie Ventura, after settling a lawsuit against Diddy for acts of violence, had submitted evidence to the FBI, including tapes of Diddy’s parties and a burner phone belonging to Kim Porter, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend who passed away in 2018.
MYEi$HiA further claimed that an email incriminating TD Jakes was among the submitted evidence. According to the TikToker, the pastor, who officiated Kim Porter’s burial, was allegedly involved in scandalous activities at Diddy’s parties.
While these claims are unsubstantiated and made on social media, they led to TD Jakes trending online. The pastor, known for leading The Potter House, a non-denominational church in Dallas, has been a prominent figure in the Christian community.
TD Jakes has been associated with celebrities, including Diddy, and has received accolades such as being named “America’s Best Preacher” by Time Magazine. Recent controversies surrounding Diddy’s alleged s*xual misconduct and his close friendship with TD Jakes have intensified the scrutiny.
Despite the lack of evidence supporting the claims against Jakes, this is not the first time he has faced controversy. In 2009, his son was arrested for indecent exposure, and last year, allegations of s*xual abuse surfaced against the estranged husband of Jakes’ daughter.
The latest accusations against Diddy and Jakes coincide with the hip-hop mogul facing multiple assault lawsuits from different women. One lawsuit alleges gang-r*pe when the victim was 17. Diddy, denying the allegations, recently paid tribute to his late ex-girlfriend Kim Porter on social media.
