Kai Havertz Spell at Chelsea
Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, Havertz has experienced a turbulent time at Stamford Bridge.
The Germany international was considered one of Europe’s most promising talents when he signed for a fee of £75.8 million.
However, Havertz has not lived up to the high expectations set for him at Chelsea. Across various competitions, he has scored 32 goals and provided 15 assists in 139 games.
Notably, he scored the winning goal in the Blues’ 1-0 victory against Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.
The 2022-23 season proved to be challenging for Havertz as he struggled to find the net while playing in a false nine position.
Despite featuring in 47 games across competitions, the German only managed to score nine goals and was unable to lead the attack effectively for the west London club.
Why Is Arsenal In Signing Chelsea’s Star Player?
Arteta displays a clear determination to attract Havertz to Arsenal and may explore utilizing his versatile attacking abilities.
The forward possesses the capability to contribute in attacking midfield, as a false nine, and on the wing.
Despite this, a significant number of supporters at Stamford Bridge are skeptical regarding the transfer fee, as they believe their club has secured the more advantageous agreement.
Former Blue’s midfielder Jorginho may have lured Kai Havertz to Arsenal
During Arsenal’s pursuit of Havertz, reports indicated that Jorginho, his former Chelsea teammate, played a role in their efforts to sign the German.
It was said that Jorginho attempted to persuade the Blues forward to move to the Emirates, leveraging their strong friendship formed during their time at Stamford Bridge.
The duo had previously achieved success together by winning the Champions League in 2021.
Havertz was taken aback when Jorginho was sold to Arsenal for £12 million on transfer deadline day in January, as their bond had been significant.
