The driver and his gang demanded a ransom of Ksh 5 million from Erica’s and Shanice’s families for their release.
For eight days, they were held captive in different houses in Thika, Ruiru, and Witeithie, while the police launched a massive manhunt for the kidnappers.
The police used various techniques to track down the suspects, such as tracing their phone signals, analyzing CCTV footage, and interrogating informers.
Finally, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, the police raided a house in Ngoigwa area in Thika where they arrested two suspects, Timothy Kiragu and Samuel Kipkurui.
