Dennis Itumbi Encounter With Uhuru Kenyatta

Around 2012, or thereabouts, Kenyatta approached Itumbi to join him as a digital strategist.

Itumbi recounted in a previous interview that he initially dismissed a phone call from a new number, assuming it was a con artist claiming to be Uhuru Kenyatta.

After multiple calls, he eventually agreed to meet and discovered it was indeed Uhuru.

Subsequently, Itumbi enlisted Bogonko into Uhuru’s campaign team, contributing to their victory over the late Mwai Kibaki in 2013.

Following the election, Uhuru appointed Itumbi as the head of Digital and Diaspora Affairs, stationed in State House.

Over the initial five years of Uhuru’s presidency, Itumbi staunchly defended him on social media, earning admiration from both the president and Deputy Ruto.

However, in 2017, Itumbi’s relationship with Uhuru soured, leading to his expulsion from State House along with a team of five.

Despite this, Itumbi chose to align himself with Ruto after the fallout between Uhuru and Ruto following the “Handshake” with Raila.

In December 2021, Itumbi claimed he was abducted and questioned about his support for Ruto.

He was allegedly beaten and left for dead but was rescued and taken to the hospital by a bodaboda rider.

During Ruto’s presidential campaign, Itumbi established the online media platform called the Hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau (HNIB) to advocate for Ruto’s agenda.

He actively campaigned for Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, even providing coaching for Gachagua ahead of the deputy presidential national debate.

Itumbi played a crucial role in monitoring election results posted on the IEBC servers during the August 2022 election, contributing to Ruto’s victory.

Upon assuming office, Itumbi described his role in the Ruto administration as dynamic, emphasizing a commitment to the people of Kenya through the president.
