Hello Cyprian, I request to be anonymous.
There is a purported college in Nairobi along Kimathi Street, Lyric house. It’s situated on the 5th and 6th floors. The name of the college is Foundation Institute of Africa and the sole Director is one Michael Kisoi.
It purports to be offering scholarships to needy Kenyans. So far, nearly 1,000 poor students have applied for this ‘scholarship’ by paying Ksh. 14,600 each. Some who applied as early as January this year, were deemed ‘successful’ but they have not been admitted up to this point (November 2018).
The scholarship was to come with an accommodation facility. No known hostels exist anywhere. The classrooms that should accommodate the 1,000 students are only four very small rooms each to the capacity of approximately 40 people. Where will the over 800 students be taught from?
Furthermore, the college has no actual lecturers. Unsuspecting job seekers are quickly recruited whenever the need arises. The most recent staff were recruited in October 2018 and to-date have not been paid. Some have resigned, some have not.
In late October, these members of staff were exploited to conduct something called ‘orientation’ for applicants which was basically to make the applicants believe all lies told to them.
Usually, the lecturers never know they are lying because they are usually very newly recruited. The college is not even accredited by TVETA.
Kindly help unsuspecting Kenyans not fall victim to this dubious institution. Hundreds of application forms are still being circulated in all the 47 counties, being filled by really poor Kenyan children who believe this scheme to be true. To calm down some suspicious parents and applicants, another ‘orientation’ has been scheduled for early December. They are told it’s mandatory for all of them to attend if they are ever to be admitted.
These poor Kenyan children are going to come, fully self-sponsored to listen to another bunch of lies. They usually travel from as far as Lodwar and Tana River. Please alert the public. FIA DOESN’T EXIST.
