Frankie Alvarez, a 21-year-old, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Saturday, September 16, in Fort Myers, Florida, resulting in severe injuries.
Frankie was rushed to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Lee County, FL, and has been on a ventilator since then.
On Tuesday, September 19, Frankie’s mother, Laire Lightner, posted a video on her Facebook page to provide an update on her son’s health.
In the video, Lightner expressed her concerns about Gulf Coast Medical Center’s intention to remove her son from life support.
“Frankie Alvarez, 21 years old, was in a motorcycle accident on Saturday…
What is going on is that he is at Gulf Coast Medical Center, and two doctors told me that he is brain dead.
He did a scan and informed me that he is brain dead, giving me 24 hours to disconnect my boy from the ventilator,” Lightner explained.
She continued, “I don’t want my boy to be disconnected from the ventilator.
I want my boy to be transferred to Jackson Memorial… This hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, literally wants to take my boy.”
Lightner concluded the video with a heartfelt plea, saying, “He is 21 years old, he is super healthy, and in Jesus’ name, he will live.”
