Now the state, using the old tactics, has sent Fanya Fujo Uone or GSU, who have descended on Kamaindi Location, ready to flush out the killers.
The problem is, such operations are often meant to punish both the guilty and innocent, in a backward way ‘to show the people who is in charge’.
In the 21st century, the state shouldn’t behave so.
With all the money used in intelligence services by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and such, couldn’t the state have used soft means to bring this issue to rest?
We ask residents of Tharaka-Nithi County to mulika human rights abuses. Send us information about rogue police officers who beat, arrest, and rape women.
We want our police force and our government to be and act modern and seek only to arrest the perpetrators and leave the women, children and innocent people alone.
In fact, did the police reforms use a lot of money for naught?
Young men who have been oppressed and suffered under the useless successive governments need peace and jobs; not batton, bullets and boots.
Of course residents should not have taken the law into their hands, but the law must also be followed when pursuing the criminals that killed a chief and police officer.
