Saint-Maximin is one of the most exciting and influential players in Newcastle United,

but he could be on his way out of the club this summer.

The French winger has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia,

where he could earn a lucrative contract and play in a revamped league.

Here is the latest news on his future and what it means for Newcastle.

Saint-Maximin is in talks with Al-Ahli

According to various reports, Saint-Maximin is in advanced talks with Al-Ahli,

a Saudi Arabian club that finished third in the Pro League last season.

The deal could be worth around £30 million, making him one of the most expensive signings in the history of Saudi football.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed that Saint Maximin was in discussions with another club and

that he was not part of the squad that traveled to Glasgow for a friendly against Rangers.

He said: “Allan is discussing a move to another club. Nothing is confirmed, nothing is done at these

stages but that’s why he wasn’t here today.”

He also said that Newcastle had to sell some players to comply with the financial fair play rules and to be able to recruit new players.

He said: “With financial fair play you sort of have to trade; for us this summer we would be

stuck in a position where we couldn’t recruit players the other way.

That’s how financial fair play works.”

Saint-Maximin would be sorely missed by Newcastle

Saint-Maximin has been a key player for Newcastle since he joined from Nice in 2019 for £16 million.

He has scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists in 69 appearances for the Magpies, often dazzling the fans

and the opponents with his pace, dribbling, and flair.

He was instrumental in helping Newcastle avoid relegation last season under Steve Bruce, scoring three goals and setting up four more in the final nine games of the campaign.

He also formed a good partnership with Callum Wilson, Newcastle’s top scorer with 12 goals.

Howe praised Saint Maximin for his talent and his personality, saying: “Maxi is a top player.

We don’t want to lose him, we want to strengthen the group but sometimes these things happen and we have to accept that.

It is early to speak of Maxi in the past tense at Newcastle, indeed, our respect and love for him is the same as the supporters.”

He added: “They love him and we love him and certainly if he does go it will be a difficult moment for all of us.

has no immediate plans to join us tomorrow but we will wait and see.

could end up with us again and if that is the case we would love to have him back.”1

Saint-Maximin could join a new project in Saudi Arabia

Saint-Maximin could be tempted by a new challenge and a new adventure in Saudi Arabia, where he

could earn more money and play in a league that is undergoing major changes.

The Saudi Pro League has recently signed a 10-year deal with La Liga to improve its quality,

competitiveness, and attractiveness.

The deal will see La Liga provide technical assistance, training programs, marketing strategies, and

digital platforms to the Saudi league, as well as facilitate friendly matches, tournaments, and player

exchanges between the two countries.

Al-Ahli is one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having won 13 domestic titles and three Asian trophies.

They are coached by Pablo Guede, an Argentine who has previously managed clubs in Chile, Mexico, and Argentina.

They have also signed some notable players this summer, such as Sam Lammers from Atalanta, Bruno Guimarães from Lyon, and André Onana from Ajax.
