Man United winger Antony denies assault allegations
Gabriela Cavallin issued a statement following Manchester United’s decision to grant Antony a break from the club as he addresses accusations of physical assault.
On Sunday, United released a statement stating that Antony would be sidelined from playing for the club while Brazilian and Manchester law enforcement investigate the allegations raised by Cavallin.
Antony’s former girlfriend has accused him of physically assaulting her on four separate occasions, allegations he refutes.
Since Cavallin, who is a DJ and influencer, made these accusations, two additional women have also come forward, alleging that Antony had physically assaulted them.
Antony denies the assault allegations
He vigorously denies all allegations against him. However, Manchester United has decided that he should not attend training at Carrington on Monday.
In response, Gabriela Cavallin released a statement through her lawyers on social media, expressing her trust in the investigations by the Civil Police of Sao Paulo and the UK Police.
She hopes that the aggressor, once identified through these investigations, will face prosecution for his actions.
Manchester United acknowledged the allegations against Antony, stating that players not involved in international matches were expected back for training on Monday.
However, Antony and the club mutually agreed that he would delay his return until further notice to address the allegations.
The club strongly condemns acts of violence and abuse, recognizing the importance of safeguarding all parties involved and understanding the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.
Antony also released a statement, affirming his innocence and his commitment to cooperating with the police to uncover the truth.
He looks forward to returning to play as soon as possible.
Antony, the 22-year-old winger, who joined United for £85 million from Ajax in September, has not faced any arrests or charges. During his absence from play, he will continue to receive his weekly salary of £200,000 from Manchester United.
Cavallin alleges that Antony assaulted her in a Manchester hotel in January and threw a glass at her in May, causing injuries.
Manchester United’s winger Antony refutes accusations of assault by publishing some WhatsApp texts
According to the Daily Mail, two Brazilian women filed charges against the £85 million player last Thursday.
In an incident from May last year, Rayssa de Freitas, a law student, alleges that Antony and Mallu Ohana (Brazil player Dudu’s ex-wife) attacked her while they were leaving a Sao Paulo nightclub in Antony’s Land Rover.
She required hospital treatment as a result, and Mallu Ohana is currently suing Antony.
Another woman named Lana accused Antony in a TV interview, stating, “He attempted to engage in sexual activity with me against my will.
He pushed me against a wall, causing me to hit my head.” On Sunday night, Antony shared several posts on his Instagram page, including four images of alleged WhatsApp conversations related to Lana.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Antony also mentioned, “I’m reluctantly sharing a portion of the WhatsApp conversations with Ingrid to prove that we only had one consensual intimate encounter.
This issue with this individual will be settled in court as she is a fraudster!!”
Antony’s WhatsApp evidence
Antony received a message from someone that read, “If you’d like, I’ll be in bed, unclothed, waiting for you.
In another, Antony expresses displeasure that the individual captured screenshots of their chats, saying, “I don’t find it cool, so please delete it.”
In a statement given to the Brazilian news outlet Globo, Antony explained, “I was in conversation with Ingrid through WhatsApp.
When she traveled to Portugal for her cousin’s birthday, she expressed her desire to come to Manchester to meet me with the clear intention of having an intimate encounter.
She even asked me if I preferred red or white lingerie.
I purchased a ticket for her and booked a hotel. We did, in fact, meet at the mentioned hotel and had an intimate and consensual encounter.
However, due to scheduling conflicts, I couldn’t meet her again, and she returned to Brazil. Since then, I haven’t seen her.
I can confirm that all of this is supported by WhatsApp messages, which I’m not sharing in full to respect privacy.
Nevertheless, I am willing to provide the necessary evidence through proper channels if required to prove my innocence and seek appropriate legal remedies and investigations.”
