Despite being suspended, Mason Greenwood, a 21-year-old forward, has been retained by Manchester United.
The club has chosen to keep him on their list of players, while seven others have been released.
Greenwood’s suspension stems from allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges on February 2 when a key witness withdrew their involvement in the case.
Although he remains suspended pending an internal investigation at Manchester United, Greenwood is still under contract.
The investigation aims to determine whether he brought the club into disrepute and breached his contractual obligations.

The investigation is anticipated to reach a conclusion very soon.
Subsequently, the final determination regarding Greenwood’s future will be made by the Glazer family, the owners of Manchester United.

As reported by The Sun, manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his willingness to reintegrate Mason Greenwood into the squad.
Furthermore, the majority of his teammates at Manchester United would welcome him back into the dressing room if the club agrees.

In the recent release list, several players have been let go by the club, including Phil Jones, who departs Old Trafford after a notable 12-year tenure and 229 appearances.
Other players on the release list are Axel Tuanzebe, an academy graduate who joined the club at the age of eight, Di’Shon Bernard, and Ethan Galbraith.
Additionally, academy players Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manni Norkett have also been released.
