In the early years of the 21st century, our family embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving behind the familiar landscapes of a Muslim village to settle in the quiet village of Waihaka.
Little did we know that this move would be the beginning of a story filled with hopes, challenges, and unexpected turns.
Modest Beginnings in Waihaka
Our first home in Waihaka was a modest structure, a mere shell of a house standing in an open field.
Unfinished and lacking basic amenities, we faced the absence of windows, interior doors, and proper plastering on both floors and walls.
Curtains served as makeshift doors, and the absence of water, electricity, and toilets posed daily challenges.

Overcoming Hardships
Despite the initial hardships, we forged ahead, determined to build a life in this new setting.
The year 2003 brought a significant development when I, along with our youngest family member, visited Christine, who had married Professor Meoll Kashorda of Nwing Matasia.
Living in Kitimat, Nairobi, they had transitioned from Huruma to Kileleshwa.
During our visit, we discussed the delayed issuance of title deeds for our Waihaka property, and Christine assured us she would expedite the process.
Joys and Tribulations
Over the years, our family faced both joys and tribulations.
In 2004, with a growing family of my own, I sought permission to build a permanent house on the property. My mother, aging and ailing, guided me to an ideal spot where I constructed our family home.
Despite the challenges, we managed to connect utilities, complete the construction of my mother’s house, and enhance the entire compound with fencing, trees, and a passable feeder road.
Strained Relations with Christine
However, as time passed, our relationship with Christine took an unexpected turn.
While initially supportive, Christine began to distance herself, avoiding discussions about the long-awaited title deed.
By 2014, our concerns intensified, and a visit to her residence in Malindi revealed little progress in the matter.
Unraveling the Plot
The plot thickened in 2015-2017 when Christine, without our knowledge, sold her adjacent plot to her former boyfriend, Lawyer SK. Ndungi.
Using the proceeds, she established her current matrimonial home on her father-in-law’s farm in Ngong Matasia, Kajiado County.
This revelation left us questioning the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the title deed.

While the home we built stands as a testament to our resilience, the complexities surrounding the title deed remain unresolved.
As we look back on the chapters of our story, we hold on to the hope that clarity and fairness will prevail in the pursuit of justice and the acknowledgment of our rightful claim.
