But I admit I try to conjure a potent image.
One that often comes to mind is that of a young girl in uniform photographed during the Vietnam War, her clothes and body engulfed in flames due to an aerial bomb.
I understand that she eventually recovered and became a doctor, which reassures me that I’m not merely exploiting someone else’s tragedy.”

Michael Gambon Cause of Death
On September 28, 2023, the world bid farewell to Michael Gambon.
In a statement issued by his family, they conveyed the sad news: “Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82.”
In 2015, Gambon made the difficult decision to retire from stage acting due to the challenges posed by memory loss.
He candidly described his struggle, acknowledging, “It’s a horrible thing to admit, but I can’t do it. It breaks my heart.”
The act of learning lines, in particular, became a daunting task that instilled fear in him.
Gambon recounted how he coped with his memory loss during performances, revealing, “There was a girl in the wings, and I had to plug in my ear so she could read me the lines.”
However, he soon realized the impracticality of this approach for a stage actor.
He reflected, “After about an hour, I thought, ‘This can’t work.
You can’t be in the theater, free on the stage, shouting and screaming and running around with someone reading to you.'”
Despite his retirement from stage acting, Gambon’s heart remained firmly devoted to the theater.
He asserted, “Theater’s the only place for me to be. When the curtain goes up, on you come.
No one’s stopping you. No one can shout ‘cut’. There’s a thousand people sitting there, and they can see you moving, all over.
They watch every part—how you walk, how you stand. The way you sit.
The way you look at people.” Nevertheless, he continued to grace the silver screen, reasoning, “You’ve got to go to work, haven’t you?”
His unwavering passion for the art of acting remained undiminished.
