Sam Taylor-Johnson
Samantha Louise Taylor-Johnson OBE, born Samantha Louise Taylor-Wood on 4 March 1967, is a British film director and artist.
In 2009, she made her directorial debut with the feature film Nowhere Boy. The film is based on the childhood experiences of John Lennon, the songwriter and singer of The Beatles.
Samantha Taylor-Johnson is a part of the Young British Artists, a collective of artists known for their innovative works.
Early life and Education
Samantha Taylor-Wood was born in Croydon, London. When she was nine, her father, David, left the family.
Her mother, Geraldine, works as a yoga teacher and astrologist. She has a younger sister named Ashley and a maternal half-brother named Kristian.
During her upbringing, Taylor-Johnson lived close to Streatham Common in south London until her parents’ divorce.
Following the divorce, the family relocated to an old schoolhouse in Jarvis Brook, East Sussex. Samantha attended Beacon Community College during this time.
Later on, she pursued her education at Goldsmiths, University of London.

She is married to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson. They have two daughters together.
After reconnecting on the set of “Nowhere Boy” in 2009, Taylor-Johnson initiated a relationship with Aaron Johnson, who was 18 at the time, while she was 42.
The couple made their engagement public during the film’s premiere in October 2009.
Their wedding took place at Babington House in Somerset on 21 June 2012, with both adopting the name Taylor-Johnson.
Their family grew with the arrival of two daughters in 2010 and 2012.
Currently residing in Los Angeles, California, the couple has established their home in this vibrant city.
