Smallest Woman In The World

Learn more about  Jyoti Kisanji Amge, the smallest woman in the world.

Jyoti was born in Nagpur, central India, on December 16, 1993.

Her early years seemed average in terms of stature, according to her mother Ranjana.

However, it soon became clear that she had a growth-limiting disorder, achondroplasia, causing dwarfism.

Starting at age four, she attended school with regular-sized classmates, using specially designed furniture.

In 2009, she gained global attention by appearing on Fuji TV’s Bikkuri Chojin 100 Special No.2.

Doctors measured her height at just 61.95 cm (2 ft), confirming her as the shortest living teenage girl.

Surprisingly, she weighed only 5.4 kg (12 lb), just 4 kg (9 lb) more than her birth weight.

At the age of 15, Jyoti’s vibrant personality was evident to everyone.

Celebrity Status

Like many teenagers, she had a strong passion for fashion, makeup, and dreams of becoming an actress.

Her newfound celebrity status began opening doors for her.

In 2009, she appeared in a music video for Bhangra star Mika Singh.

And featured in the Channel 4 documentary “Bodyshock” in an episode titled ‘Two Foot Tall Teen.’

Unique Stature Challenges

Remarkable size, like Robert Wadlow and Sultan Kösen experienced, comes with challenges.

Jyoti needs specially tailored clothes, jewelry, plates, and cutlery due to her size.

Nevertheless, she’s determined to embrace her unique stature.

Gaining recognition from Guinness World Records (GWR) has boosted her self-esteem.

Jyoti feels popular, special, and important because of this achievement.

Jyoti’s journey had just begun as she turned 18 on December 16, 2011.

She secured the title of Shortest living woman (mobile).

Measured by Dr. Manoj Pahukar at Wockhardt Superspeciality Hospital in Nagpur.

GWR adjudicator Rob Molloy oversaw the process.

Her height was measured multiple times during the day, and an average reading was calculated.

She was found to be 62.8 cm (2 ft 0.7 in) tall.

Slightly shorter than the previous record holder, Bridgette Jordan from the USA, who was 69 cm tall (2 ft 3 in).

Initially, Jyoti expressed her desire to travel to London and the USA and pursue acting.

Fortunately, she achieved all these dreams.

As an established member of the GWR community, Jyoti has traveled abroad and met other record holders.

In 2012, she met Chandra Bahadur Dangi, the Shortest man ever, despite towering over him at 54.6 cm (1 ft 9.5 in).

They came together to celebrate the launch of Guinness World Records 2013, making history as the world’s shortest man and woman meeting for the first time.
