The Ugly Animal Preservation Society has ranked the blob fish as the ugliest animal in existence since 2013 to date.
Blob fishes, with their slimy bodies and unbalanced features, are considered ugly by humans.
These deep-sea fish reside around the Antipodes and scientists initially classified them in 1926. However, because they inhabit remote regions, the public was unaware of blob fishes.
Everything changed in 2003 when an expedition caught several of them.

This feeding technique is known as percussive foraging and accounts for 5–41% of their foraging time.

In Spanish, their name translates to “Kill! Kill!” and encountering a Matamata turtle might indeed prompt such a reaction.
After all, this species possesses an uncomfortably peculiar appearance. It boasts a long, wart-covered neck that extends from an unsightly shell, culminating in a flat head adorned with an unfortunate nose.
Furthermore, it possesses four clawed and oddly shaped feet.
Yet, as often happens with many unsightly animals, the Matamata’s off-putting exterior makes it one of the most formidable predators in its habitat.
Not only do they blend seamlessly into their swampy surroundings, but their long necks grant them an extensive snapping range, which is perfect for hunting.
