In 2020, it was revealed that over Sh60 billion worth of Covid-19 donations was misappropriated, stolen and pocketed by top government officials and business leaders.
The parliamentary inquiry into the mess at KEMSA has had names of prominent politicians i.e. Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, and former Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission CEO Halakhe Wako mentioned.
While Kenyans were fearful of the mysterious virus from China and heath workers were waiting for Personal Protective Equipment (PEP) to bear the ravages of COVID-19, Kenyan leaders were looting.
It is not the first time looting from the sick and poor. The major problem is that, going by the circus at the KEMSA heist hearings, it seems no one will be held accountable.
South Africa , one of the countries that was mostly ravaged by the Pandemic have since rejected the AstraZeneca vaccines due to lack of efficacy.
In South Africa, a study showed the AstraZeneca vaccine performed poorly in slowing down the covid-19 variant in that country.
France and Germany have questioned its safety.
