Mason Greenwood scored his first goal since his return to football after a 20-month absence on Sunday, 8 October 2023.
The Manchester United forward, who is on loan at Getafe, netted the second goal for his team in a La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.
Greenwood, who faced allegations of attempted rape, assault and coercive control in January 2022, had all charges dropped in February 2023.
He has always denied the allegations but was suspended by United and did not play any competitive football until he joined Getafe on deadline day in August 2023.
The 22-year-old has made six appearances for the Spanish club, providing one assist, and scoring one goal.
His first start came against Athletic Club in the La Liga.
Greenwood Scores Debut Goal After 20 Months
Greenwood broke his goal drought in the 33rd minute when he latched onto a through ball from Carles Alena and slotted past the goalkeeper with his left foot.
He celebrated by pointing to the sky and hugging his teammates.

The goal also marked a milestone for Greenwood, who became the first player to score for Manchester United and Getafe in La Liga history.

Mason Greenwood goal vs Celta Vigo
This was Greenwood’s first goal since he scored for Manchester United against Aston Villa in July 2021.
He has one cap for England, which he earned in September 2020.
However, he could switch his international allegiance to Jamaica, as he is eligible to represent the Caribbean nation through his parents.
Greenwood will hope to continue his scoring form and help Getafe climb up the table.
They are currently 14th in La Liga, with eight points from seven games and will face Real Madrid next on October 15th.
