I am a victim of regular social media attacks right now but I am exceptionally glad that I know how to handle the Twitter flies and Trolls who fill my mentions with all forms of insults, accusations and funny stuff. Why am I being attacked? Let me delve in and narrate the whole story.
Just the other day, I wrote a blog post condemning radicalization in this country. Radicalization is threatening to tear this country apart if something is not done soon. In fact I tweeted my message and the article was read by thousands, all over Kenya.
The “Good Muslims “ have refused to tell us who is radicalizing them. They have refused to tell us who hides grenades, Bullets and guns in Mosques. These are the fundamental observations that I made. The fellas from the “ Religion of Peace “ are not happy with me.
When people decide to attack you instead of arguing their points, it speaks volumes about them and their believes. So people want us to keep quiet? We cant ask some of these basic questions without being labeled “ Islamophobia self loathing Niggas ? “ Hilarious indeed.
The religion of peace fellas want us to keep quiet in the wake of Islamic related crimes. Various Kenyan media houses have been condemning the Paris attack but none has dared publish the cartoons. Freedom of speech …Ah ?
If there is something called freedom of speech, then we lost it a long time ago.
In fact I have received death threats from Muslims on Twitter who have been on my case. See no evil speak no evil, they sayeth. I have always condemned Christianity but nobody has ever threatened me . But it seems I will have to get insurance as I question the religion of peace.
Lets get back to social media. It seems there is a war that has been launched. Facebook has banned me for 12 days citing hate speech. Some people, probably bots reported my account after saying something they did not like. Facebook and other social media networking sites have a very poor policy when dealing with such cases: If many people report your account, It is gone.
Attacking me won’t silence me. I am used to attacks, insults and my Twitter Block button is active. My questions are no longer theoretical, it seems there is a movement a foot that has launched war on social media critics.
Yes I know not all Muslims are bad but remember that not all Muslims were bad in Iraq when thousands of innocent people were butchered.
But here’s the guts of it; freedom of speech is a cornerstone of Kenya’s way of life but it is a two way street and no-one should have the right to pick and choose who has the freedom to speak! I treasure that right and, unless others are allowed that same right, then the term “freedom of speech” becomes absurdly meaningless and a contradiction in terms.
