More bodies found in Tsavo West National park …

[ad_1]

Authorities have recovered two more bodies in the Tsavo West National park a day after four more recovered in the same place. These deaths have raised concerns about the work the human rights defenders of the county are doing. In the mean time, authorities are attempting to uncover the mystery behind the torture and burning of the bodies.

Witnesses reported that the alleged criminals covered and one reported to have tissue stuck in his mouth. The Families says that the victims were missing for two to three months. The family reported that the deceased left their homes with unknown civilian men within November and December.

It’s still unclear whether the park was the initial place of death or just a dumping zone. The two recovered bodies had multiple injuries, and their hands tied from the back.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has not yet released an official report; however, the local police launched the official investigation. Haki Africa Chief Executive Officer Khalid Hussein called on the government to come out and shed light on the matters arising in Tsavo. Hussein added that the increase in insecurity has lead the locals to be living in fear.

Last year’s case

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers; recovered six naked and decomposing bodies in the same place which had been tortured and suffocated to death. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers were on patrol when they encountered the decomposing bodies.

KWS reported that bodies were spread all over the park. The detectives who visited the scene ruled out the park is where the murder took place. However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has never made the findings of the investigation public to date. Additionally, all six bodies had no identities on them.

A day ago, two more were recovered making this year’s body count to six and the year is only a month in.

The release of the State of Human Rights at the Coast of Kenya in 2019 stated; more killings happened in 2019 in comparison with the year 2018.

Insecurity

It is still unclear on what the reason for these deaths is. The residents of Taita Taveta and Tsavo; are living in constant fear as they don’t know whose child will go missing next. The insecurity of waking up to another dead body lurks at the back of their minds.

However, it is their wish that the government will come to their aid and help understand the reason behind the killings.

The authorities transported the bodies to Makindu sub-county hospital Mortuary. Investigations are still ongoing.
