On Saturday afternoon, Dick’s Diner in Murrysville faced an evacuation of at least 20 customers and employees due to complaints about a burning sensation affecting their eyes.
The incident unfolded around 1 p.m. along Route 22, prompting a call to 911 when the discomfort arose.
Responding to the scene were firefighters from Murrysville, Export, and Westmoreland City, accompanied by an ambulance crew from Murrysville Medic One.
General manager Erik Retzer reported that the cause of the burning sensation is currently under investigation, with emergency crews working to ventilate the building.
Despite the unsettling situation, Retzer reassured that everyone was okay, emphasizing the paramount importance of well-being.
Fortunately, no individuals required ambulance transportation for treatment in the aftermath of the incident.
