It may sound like a fairy-tale or a script from a third rate Nigerian movie commonly aired by the mediocre mainstream media, but yes in Kenya politicians have no principles or morals when it comes to their own self-preservation. Members of Parliament commonly referred to MPIGs strangely unite as regards to matters pertaining to their salary increments or the passage of retrogressive legislation.
Tuesday 20th was one such day when the forces of impunity united to divert public’s attention from corruption in the new age County dispensation. Cyprian Nyakundi received a phonecall from officers attached to the Parklands Police Station who have till today, illegally confiscated his laptop computer, tablet and telephone, in a bid to suppress free speech as enshrined in the constitution.
The CID officers tricked Mr. Nyakundi into believing that his visit to Parklands Police station would lead to his electronic gadgets being handed back to their rightful owner, but as fate would have it, this was never the plan of the rogue and corrupt Police officers. In Kenya, there’s a saying that one is better off trusting armed criminals, than the crooked Policemen, trained in the dungeon of incompetence known as Kiganjo Police Training College.
CID officers from HeadQuarters promptly drove to Parklands Police Station and quickly whisked Mr. Nyakundi to their base located along Kiambu Road, where they embarked on their agenda of the day.
They revealed that they were under instructions to arrest the popular blogger on charges of undermining the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), by exposing corruption which has been featured prominently in the international media where senior military commanders have been linked with the smuggling of charcoal and sugar from Somalia into Kenya.
After going through Mr. Nyakundi’s timeline, the CID officers failed to find any incriminating evidence against him, but mentioned that he had been on their watch-list, together with two other firebrand bloggers Dikembe Disembe and ModernCorps.
The compromised CID officers at HeadQuarters then raised their counterparts operating what could be referred to as an extortionists gang, who officially go by the name of “Flying Squad” known to harbor the biggest crooks working under the guise of service to all or in Swahili, utumishi kwa wote. This is a crack-unit formed initially to fight criminal gangs and neutralize banned sects like Mungiki but instead, the Flying Squad has been associated with criminal activities and extra-judicial killings.
Flying Squad officers then took Mr. Nyakundi to their head-quarters at the Nairobi headquarters behind Integrity Center where they begun interrogating the award-winning blogger.
