During a short period, pop sensation Mariah Carey and former New York Yankees icon Derek Jeter were romantically involved.

Their story began in 1997 when Carey and Jeter first met at a party and instantly clicked. As they spent more time together and grew closer, the couple shared a memorable “warm, slow, intoxicating kiss” on Jeter’s rooftop.
Jeter, known for his reserved nature, privately struggled with Carey’s immense stardom, as revealed in the book “Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter.”
“Jeter was not terribly enthused about the aggressive photographers who tracked them, or the opposing fans who chanted Mariah’s name, or the stadium operators who played Mariah’s songs when he stepped to the plate on the road.
“He would confess he could not adjust to the relentless attention he received as Mariah Carey’s boyfriend. ‘It didn’t bother her the way it bothered me,’ he would say.
Jeter further elaborated on this topic during an interview with Vault in 1999.
“I’d have to be with someone very understanding, someone who’s willing to deal with all the attention. But going out with Mariah, that’s taking it to a whole other level. She’s someone who’s known worldwide. I don’t see how two very famous people—and I’m nowhere close to her level—would be able to deal with that over the long haul. It’s too much.”

During a 1999 interview with Sports Illustrated, Derek Jeter, the former captain of the New York Yankees, shared his insights on the difficulties of being in a relationship with a renowned figure such as Carey.
“I have to be with someone very understanding, someone who’s willing to deal with all the attention. But going out with Mariah that’s taking it to a whole other level.
“She’s someone who’s known worldwide. I don’t see how two very famous people—and I’m nowhere close to her level—would be able to deal with that over the long haul. It’s too much.”
Following his separation from Mariah, Jeter embarked on relationships with prominent women in Hollywood. In 2016, he tied the knot with Hannah Davis, a renowned Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.
Since then, the couple has been blessed with four children and their bond appears to flourish with each passing day.
