It Appears Kisumu Traffic Police Constable Ndalana Was Murdered By Fellow Policemen

A daughter to the late traffic police constable Alfred Ndalana has revealed the way his father met his death.

Ndalana Mutheu (pictured) wrote a thread on Twitter On how her father died. Her accounts contradict police reports that the traffic officer had committed suicide for fear of the then ongoing traffic police vetting in 2016.

One thing that we agree is amiss in the story as reported in the local media is that the man shot himself in the head five times.

It doesn’t take rocket science or forensic investigator to tell you that one cannot shoot themselves in the head five times.

The police accounts of Mr Ndalana’s death brings memories of the murder of former Foreign Affair Minister Robert Ouko where the police said, he shot himself, then lit a fire and burnt his body. It was a cover-up.

From the daughter’s story, that I will share later, it appears that there’s an attempted cover-up. However, let’s first read the way the media, The Standard and The Daily Nation reported the ‘suicide’.

Mark you, the autopsy report, according to the daughter, hasn’t been shared to this day.

The Standard

Kisumu police officer shoots himself five times in the head over fear of vetting process outcome that exposed his secret source of wealth

A traffic Police officer attached to Nyanza Regional Headquarters has committed suicide by shooting himself in the head five times.

Police Constable Alfred Ndalana, a rider, on Thursday night shot himself using a colleague’s rifle at his house in what colleagues said was fear of the results of the recently concluded police vetting exercise.

According to a housemate whose name was withheld by seniors, Mr Ndalana had expressed discomfort after the vetting exercise which exposed him to the media.

“He has been telling me that he feared that he would be rendered unfit to serve by the Police Service Commission after all that was revealed during the exercise,” said the housemate.

Mr Ndalana who faced the vetting panel had been put to task to explain the sources of his wealth which could not match his income, including the several mobile money transfer transactions between him and a particular transport businessman in Kisumu town.

However in his defense, Mr Ndalana explained to the panel that he received pay from the businessman for the services he offered which included escorting the Hindu god during various processions.

The housemate said Mr Ndalana who had been assigned some duties at the ongoing Kisumu Regional Agricultural Show had retired from the day long duty and joined him in the house.

After taking supper, Mr Ndalana sent the housemate to pick a screw driver at a neighbour’s house.

“I was to be on duty at night, so I had picked my riffle and just before I could leave, Mr Ndalana called me from my room and sent me to get him some screw driver. That is when he shot himself using my firearm,” said the housemate.

According to reports from Kisumu Traffic Base Commander Jane Mbevi, Mr Ndalana who had retired to his house after a day long duty committed suicide at 9pm shortly after taking supper.

With no suicide note left behind, police have now launched investigations into the matter, saying the crime scene has been secured.

The Daily Nation

A traffic police officer shot himself dead on Thursday evening at his house in Milimani, Kisumu County.

Constable Alfred Ndalanu, in his late 40s, is said to have tricked his colleague with whom he shared a flat to leave the room before he used his gun to shoot himself twice in his throat in the 8:30pm incident.

“The officer’s fingers did not leave the trigger latch of the automatic shotgun until he was completely immobilised,” Kisumu Central Police OCPD Wilston Mwakio explained.

Mr Ndalanu, a motorcycle officer attached to the Kisumu Central base, left his meal of chicken and ugali unfinished before committing the daring act.

His colleague had just taken the gun from the armoury and was preparing for his night shift when Mr Ndalanu asked him to get a screwdriver from their neighbour’s house before leaving for work.

The unsuspecting partner obliged but was brought to a halt halfway down the staircase when he heard gunshots coming from their house.

He rushed back to find a tragic sight. Five cartridges were found at the scene.

EXPRESSED FEAR

Before his death, Mr Ndalanu is said to have expressed his worries and fears about the outcome of the recent police vetting, whose results were expected in a few days.

During the day, he was seen escorting Principal Secretary for Fisheries Micheni Ntiba from a hotel to the ongoing agricultural show at the Mamboleo Grounds.

“He looked jovial, but he had been telling us how uncomfortable he was as the release of the police vetting results draws near,” said a colleague.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our officers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the police community,” Mr Mwakio said in a statement.

The body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

The daughter’s accounts of events.

This will probably be the last tweet I will request @DCI_Kenya For justice over Alfred Ndalana’s murder. Through some personal investigation I happened to learn that my dad was killed by juniors who were sent by the high ranked bosses but they accused him of suicide.

Later they undressed him and got rid of his body by dumping it at the gardens of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga mortuary. None of the police informed my mother on what had happened but the lady who used to wash my dad’s clothes called my mother saying ‘mzee amejinyonga’ at around 10 pm

This was on 28th July 2016. My mom and my dad’s siblings got a driver and headed to Kisumu. On reaching, people started claiming that my mum ordered people to kill my dad. When they got to the house in Milimani, they found the house wet insinuating it had been cleaned earlier on
The bedroom door was wide open and one of the lady officers tried to get into the room and take some items but my mum refused. Later one neighbor an Officer approached my mum and said there were 4 men in the house. But when this lady saw him she warned him to shut up so he did

When my mom started asking for the body she was never told anything the bosses that is OCS and OCPD didn’t tell her. Yet officer Mwakio who was the OCS then was among the people who took the body from the house according to the KBC footage of the scene.

My mom walked into each morgue bed by bed looking for my dad’s body only to find it at Jaramogi lying on the grass naked. He suffered 5 gunshot wounds on his head yet according to Mwakio he told the KBC team dad shot himself 5 times on the neck. So what was true?

On requesting for a post mortem the Kisumu police said that noone would do it. So my uncle had to get someone from Bungoma if am not wrong to do it. The phone to mom and my cousin that were used to take photos of how the wounds were were taken by the lady officer i mentioned ?

She said’leteni simu niwachargie’ abd all photos were deleted. Yes the police claimed they broke into my dads room yet we found the keys to the room lying under the bed! Around 7 cartridges were collected. Blood was only on the bed and part of the floor . Was this suicide?

No Post morterm results

@DCI_Kenya Are you aware that my mother was never given the post mortem results? Till date she did request the CID handling this case but he always asks her to call later. Why? I believe this is against the rules of any death

Threats to life

On 30th June 2019 my mum was attacked by two men at Buruburu , she was closing her salon and the man asked her to open the car or he will shoot her on the head. Ahe did open and they stole all the money she had. We did report to Buruburu police station till date nothing

Last year when I was walking from the school gate 3 men well dressed in suits not to be university students approached me . Calling me by my name and started questioning me about my family. Who were they? I did brush them off only for one to tell me I will find you soon

@DCI_Kenya I am not ready to be an orphan or yet ready to die. All I do is ask for justice. Anyrhing to do with my dads case is buried even though the case file was opened only 3 proceedings and it has reached a dead end. Please find us justice#justiceforndalana
