New York Times In Trouble For Publishing Cartoon

New York Times published gory pictures of victims of the DusitD2 terror attacks. The newspaper refused to apologize even though in other parts of the world, mostly western countries, they don’t do such reporting. Pressure from Kenyans made their Twitter photo account to be suspended

New York Times, the newspaper that published gory pictures of DusitD2 terror attack victims and refused to apologize (to Kenyans), is in trouble with the American Jewish Committee (AJC) .

The newspaper published a caricature (cartoon) of Jewish premier Benjamin Netanyahu as a guide dog to US President Donald Trump.

The newspaper apologized but this did not go down well with the AJC, who refused New York Time’s apology.

‘A political cartoon in the international print edition of The New York Times on Thursday included anti-Semitic tropes, depicting the prime minister of Israel as a guide dog with a Star of David collar leading the president of the United States, shown wearing a skullcap. The image was offensive, and it was an error of judgment to publish it. It was provided by The New York Times News Service and Syndicate, which has since deleted it’ the New York Times wrote in their apology.

‘Apology not accepted, the ACJ stated,

It continued, ‘How many New York Times editors looked at a cartoon that would not have looked out of place on a white supremacist website and thought it met the paper’s editorial standards? What does this say about your processes or your decision makers? How are you fixing it?, Naked antisemitism such as in this image is not “an error of judgment.” We have to wonder if the New York Times editors would’ve published a similar cartoon depicting any other country or people’.

Because of this, a couple of users stated that they’ve discontinued their subscription of the newspaper.

However, some people saw nothing wrong with the cartoon and begged to differ, stating that semites always feel entitled.

‘I’m not Jewish, so obviously I am missing something, or I don’t understand something. Could someone please explain to me why this is anti Semitic? I have seen other political cartoons that have depicted world leaders as things far more offensive than a dog. Thanks’, a Twitter user wrote.

Below is the caricature that angered the American Jewish Committee.
